Plug Power joins Fluxys project for open-access hydrogen network in Antwerp

Fluxys is continuing its work to build the hydrogen economy – and now it's being joined by Plug Power for the open-access hydrogen network in the port of Antwerp.

This American manufacturer of hydrogen fuel cells is the second company after INEOS Olefins Belgium to take part in the feasibility study with a view to developing the hydrogen network. Plug Power plans to build a 100-MW hydrogen production facility on the NextGen site in the port of Antwerp.

Steven Van Caekenberghe, Head of the H₂ & CO₂ Programme at Fluxys: "It's great to have Plug Power on board for our project to build an open-access hydrogen network in the port of Antwerp. The 100 MW green hydrogen production facility connected to the network will kickstart the development of the hydrogen market for the industrial cluster at the port. The project is another major step forward towards our goal of having the hydrogen network in Antwerp ready for industry in 2026 and a big push for the development of the NextGen industrial site."
