CO₂ pipeline Antoing-Gibecq

Why is this infrastructure needed?

Fluxys is a key player in the energy transition in our country and is building the necessary infrastructure for transporting captured CO₂ in partnership with industry. In this context, Fluxys Belgium is preparing to lay a new underground CO₂ transport pipeline of around 44 kilometres. This project is part of Fluxys' overall approach to help build the hydrogen and CO₂ infrastructure Belgium needs.

As operator of the infrastructure for transporting molecules by pipeline in Belgium, Fluxys is fully in line with European, federal and regional policies aimed at developing and building a CO₂ transport network in the near future. Transporting this molecule to long-term storage sites in the North Sea will help to achieve the objective of a low-carbon economy by enabling industrial CO₂ emitters to reduce their impact on our environment.

The pipeline will only be laid once all relevant permits have been obtained.
