Planning permission received for de-odorisation plant
In late October, the regional authorities in Freiburg granted planning permission for the de-odorisation plant near Schwörstadt (in the district of Lörrach in Baden-Württemberg). Preparatory construction activities are already underway.
The planned de-odorisation plant is part of a flow reversal project that will allow natural gas to be shipped on the TENP pipeline in a south-north direction under certain conditions. It will thus make a decisive contribution to enhancing security of supply in Germany and north-western Europe, as it will increase flexibility in gas transmission to Germany via Switzerland and indirectly via Italy and France. The de-odorisation plant will treat the gas coming from abroad to comply with regulatory requirements for the German pipeline network.
The project is funded by the European Union.
