New Operational Measures to support the Swiss Security of Supply
19.10.2022News
In the course of 2022, FluxSwiss, Swissgas and Transitgas in their capacity as Swiss Transmission System Operators finalised a so-called “Emergency Procedure” to activate specific inter-TSO measures aimed at mitigating the impact of a possible gas emergency on the Swiss domestic gas market as a consequence of a supply disruption from upstream markets or a technical accident affecting the Transitgas pipeline or one of the neighbouring gas systems.
Among the agreed measures, two new functionalities are now made available to FluxSwiss’ and Swissgas’ shippers who are active in Switzerland for the purpose of domestic supply or transit to adjacent systems. In particular, transit shippers will be allowed to sublet transit capacity to shippers supplying the Swiss domestic market and/or redeliver gas to a Swiss domestic counterparty at a virtual point located within Switzerland.
This reinforced cooperation between the activities of transit to European countries and transport to the Swiss domestic supply was achieved thanks to the joint effort and partnership of FluxSwiss, Swissgas and Transitgas and will be valid until 30th September 2023, unless prolonged further.
