Transmitted volumes: Belgian network remains a crossroads for gas in Europe

In the first six months of the year, Fluxys Belgium transmitted 238.1 TWh of natural gas through the Belgian network, of which 141.8 TWh was exported to neighbouring countries, more than half of it to France. Strikingly, large quantities of natural gas were transmitted to the United Kingdom during the cold spell in the first few months of the year.

Where did the natural gas come from in the first half of 2018? The largest volumes were supplied by the Netherlands and Norway. In April, May and June, some large ships also unloaded LNG in Zeebrugge, as a result of which the share of LNG in imports rose sharply compared to the same period last year.
