Event "Decarbonisation, flexibility and energy transition in the Hainaut industry"

Event at Igretec

On Wednesday 4 October 2023, Fluxys took part in an event, at Igretec’s offices in Charleroi, called "Decarbonisation, flexibility and energy transition in the Hainaut industry". The event was the result of a partnership between the grid operators (Elia, Fluxys and ORES), CENEO, the intermunicipal energy financing body for the province of Hainaut, and the regional development agencies (IDEA, IDETA and IGRETEC).

Following a speech by Thomas Dermine, Secretary of State for Economic Recovery and Strategic Investment, responsible for Science Policy, the partners presented the challenges of the energy transition and the operational solutions that they are already able to make available to businesses.

Pascal De Buck and Raphaël De Winter pointed out that Fluxys fully supports industry in its efforts to decarbonise and is working hand in hand with industrial companies to provide them with CO₂ and H₂ transmission infrastructure in the various regions of Belgium.

They detailed the steps Fluxys has been taking since 2021 to meet and listen to the industries and develop a CO₂ and H₂ grid that best meets their needs.
