Publi-T signs agreement with Fluxys SA/NV to support Elia Group capital needs

Brussels, 25 October 2024 – Publi-T signed a Heads of Agreement with Fluxys SA/NV to enable Publi-T to follow future capital increases of Elia Group. Together, they will create a new subsidiary to which Publi-T will contribute its 44.79% stake in Elia Group. When needed, Publi-T and Fluxys SA/NV will contribute additional capital to the subsidiary to fund its share in future capital needs of Elia Group.

In the new structure, Publi-T will remain the reference shareholder of Elia Group, with Fluxys SA/NV as a minority investor.

This agreement will allow Publi-T and Fluxys SA/NV to support Elia Group’s investment plan 2024-2028.

With this agreement, Publi-T also emphasises the importance of the synergies and complementarity between molecule and electron networks with a view to enable the energy transition at an affordable price for the consumer without jeopardizing the security of energy supply.

“Investing in our grids is critical for Belgium’s low-carbon future and its energy independence. With this agreement with Fluxys, we facilitate the development and the expansion of our operators in an aligned way”, says Geert Versnick, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Publi-T.

“To realise a 100% carbon-neutral European energy system, we need electrons and low carbon molecules to work together in an integrated way. Furthermore, this agreement does not compromise Fluxys' ability to continue investing”, says Andries Gryffroy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fluxys SA/NV.
