LNG truck loading: going the extra mile to serve our customers and facilitate market uptake
Mission accomplished: we operated our truck loading facilities 24/7 at maximum capacity to smoothly absorb peak demand at our Zeebrugge and Dunkirk LNG terminals.
Our operational teams at the Zeebrugge and Dunkirk LNG terminals handled no less than 890 truck loadings over the 4 week period from mid-June to mid-July, boosting the average per day to 35 loadings. Through agile scheduling and close cooperation with our customers, we also ensured steady operations without LNG trailers having to queue before loading. Thumbs up to our operational teams for making this happen!
Sharp market uptake
The first half of 2021 saw demand for LNG as fuel for ships and trucks increasing sharply. A total of 3,200 LNG trailers were loaded at the Zeebrugge terminal, roughly the equivalent of all loadings at the facility during the whole of 2020. The Dunkirk terminal in turn, which launched its truck loading services in November of last year, also saw demand ramping up rapidly, with available capacity fully booked in June.
