Works carried out in agricultural, woodland and hunting areas: agreements and compensation
Farming community
When laying a pipeline, farmers are temporarily unable to use certain parts of their fields and pastures. Fluxys Belgium pays them compensation for this disruption and makes provisions to ensure water supply during the works, as well as passage for livestock. After the pipe has been laid, we make every effort to restore the site to its original state.
In order to arrange these matters in a spirit of good neighbourly relations, we concluded an agreement with the Boerenbond, the Algemeen Boerensyndicaat and the Fédération Wallonne de l’Agriculture.

Woodland owners and operators
When Fluxys Belgium carries out work on its infrastructure or lays new pipelines, the work site may traverse or be in the vicinity of woodlands. We make every effort to prevent or minimise damage to trees and woodlands. If trees do need to be felled, we compensate the owners and operators of those sites. Once the work is done, we make every effort to restore the site to its original state.
Fluxys Belgium has concluded agreements with two organisations in order to organise these different aspects and exchange information with woodland owners and operators in a spirit of good neighbourly relations.
- Vlaanderen – Agreement with Landelijk Vlaanderen vzw, an organisation that promotes the entrepreneurship of landowners and operators in the Flemish countryside: Memorandum of Understanding with Landelijk Vlaanderen vzw (PDF 1,4MB)
- Wallonia – Agreement with Nature, Terres et Forêts, an organisation representing the owners of rural properties, woodlands and agricultural land in Wallonia: Memorandum of Understanding with Nature, Terres et Forêts (PDF 437KB)
Hunters
When Fluxys carries out work on its infrastructure or lays new pipelines, the site may cross or be adjacent to hunting grounds. These situations can disrupt hunters' activities but also mean that they are required to comply with specific safety regulations.
In order to cooperate with hunters in the same way as with owners and operators of agricultural or woodland areas, Fluxys has signed agreements with the main organisations representing hunters:
- the Hubertus Vereniging Vlaanderen for Flanders: Agreement with the Hubertus Vereniging Vlaanderen (NL, PDF 1,6MB)
- the Royal Saint-Hubert Club de Belgique for Wallonia: Agreement with the Royal Saint-Hubert Club de Belgique (FR, PDF 2,5MB)
These agreements provide not only for prior consultation but also for transparent and non-discriminatory compensation principles designed to compensate for the disturbance caused by Fluxys' works.
